2013 Series Details
J5, J4 and J3 racers earn series points with year-end awards for the top three in each division. Kids who complete three races will get a certificate. It's our fourth year sponsoring the Skiwerx Race Series (formerly the Metro Nordic Youth Super Series -MNYSS). This series emphasizes fun while introducing kids to racing. Do one, do them all, bring your friends. Entry fees and distances vary. Some races require pre-registration and some only have same-day registration.

NEW Skiwerx Race License
A Skiwerx Race License will be required to earn points (J5, J4, J3 age groups) in the Skiwerx Series and can be purchased online (Skiwerx and Event Registration). License holders race for free at the Hoigaards/MYSL Team Sprint Series on Wednesday nights in January and February and the Skiwerx Banquet on March 23rd is included as well.

Skiwerx  and Skiwerx-affiliates; Loppet Foundation's Fast Kids and Sisu's Y Team, winter program participants will automatically receive a license.

A young athlete (age 6 or 7) may choose to go up an age group into the J5 category, but all other racers need to stay in their age groups.

IMPORTANT: Age groups are based on the skier's age on December 31, 2012.

J3 (12+13)
J4 (10+11)
J5 (8+9)
5 and under

2013 NEW POINTS SYSTEM: Series awards for J3/J4/J5 will be calculated as:

  • Age group victory = 20 points
  • 2nd – 15
  • 3rd – 12
  • 4th – 10
  • 5th – 9
  • 6th – 8
  • 7th – 7
  • 8th – 6
  • 9th – 5
  • 10th – 4
  • 11th – 3

A racer's FOUR (edited 1.14.13) best results will count toward the series. If a child races out of their age group, they don't receive points, with the exception of "youth" skiers (7 and under) who can choose to race in the J5 category.

NEW TEAM SCORING: Team scoring based on total club points per event. Best FOUR (edited 1.14.13) EVENTS per CLUB. PLUS the classic relays at Midewest Junior Championships.
