Welcome to the MYSL at Giants Ridge in BIWABIK!

Our club was organized over 15 years ago to bring the joy of cross-country skiing to skiers aged 5 to 15. The Giants Ridge Cross-Country Ski Club is organized by volunteer coordinators and coaches: Steve and Anne Carter.

The Giants Ridge Ski Area will again be our host site. We will meet at the Timing Building at the beginning and end of each session. The Timing Building is the small building in the stadium area just before the start of the cross-country ski trails. Cost is $40 for children aged 7 to 15, $25 for children 6 and under, and $25 for children with Giants Ridge Cross-Country Season Passes.

This year the club will meet for eight Sunday afternoon sessions from January 10th through March 7th, 2010. We won't meet on Feb. 14 of Presidents' Day Weekend.  At our first session on January 10th, we will start early, at 1:00 p.m. to deal with registration.

• 1:00-2:00 Registration, New Skier Orientation, and Equipment Fitting.
• 2:00-3:00 Skiing Outside
• 3:00-3:15 Snacks Inside

The remaining seven sessions will start promptly at 2 p.m. outdoors so please allow enough time to get dressed and put on ski equipment. The skiers will ski until 3 p.m. Parents, please help your skier(s) dress appropriately for the weather. Skiers can go inside to warm up at any time. If you are the parent of a 5-year-old, we ask you to be available for your skier during the session. We encourage parents to come out and help. Beverages and snacks will be available inside after each session. Cross-country ski equipment is available at no charge for those who do not have their own. The equipment will be checked out at the beginning of each session and returned at the end of each session.

If the temperature and/or wind-chill forecast are considered dangerous, the session will be cancelled. Call Giants Ridge at 865-3000 for an update. Cancelled sessions will not be made up.
