Costume Day at the Willow River MYSL Olympics
Our Club Welcome to the 15th year of the Willow River Ski Club (WRSC). We are looking forward to another season of fun activities that build skiing skills while providing a great family outdoor experience. We will meet on Sundays from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. beginning January 6th. We will be meeting at the Nature Center in Willow River State Park, just outside of Hudson, Wisconsin. 2008 Wisconsin State Park stickers are required on all vehicles; they will be available at the park office in late December. Plan to come early on Jan. 6th to purchase stickers if needed, register, ask questions, etc. We will meet regardless of snow conditions or temperature; the activities will be planned according to the weather. Please bring your skis even if there ís not much snow. We managed to get on those skis more often than anyone thought possible last winter! Children should be dressed and ready to ski when they arrive at the park. Please have at least one parent from each family join us each week- your ski skills won't be an issue and your child(ren) will gain a better appreciation of skiing as a lifelong family activity. Children under 7 years old must have a parent with them on the snow. Volunteers are needed for both coaching and support roles. As our club grows, additional volunteers are the key to the continued success and affordability of this program. Please check off a volunteer category when you register, or call us to see what ís needed. Coaches receive instructional materials, and enthusiasm is more important than advanced skiing skills for most of our coaching positions. We will also need shelter parents and coordinators for a few special events during the season. The Willow River club does not have an advanced Silver Skier group. The MYSL organization supports them. Check the MYSL page for Silver Skier opportunities. Those who participate with Silver Skier groups are expected to maintain an affiliation with a local club.
