Our Club

Welcome to the 18th year of the Willow River Ski Club (WRSC). We are looking forward to another season of fun activities that build skiing skills while providing a great family outdoor experience. We will meet on Sundays from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. beginning January 3rd and ending February 21st. We will be meeting at the Nature Center in Willow River State Park, just outside of Hudson, Wisconsin.

Register on-line at www.mysl.org, select "Registration" from the top menu and then follow the instructions, selecting Willow River Youth Ski Club, of course.

2010 Wisconsin State Park stickers are required on all vehicles; they will be available at the park office in late December. Plan to come early on Jan. 3rd to purchase stickers if needed, register, ask questions, etc.

We will meet regardless of snow conditions or temperature; the activities will be planned according to the weather. Please bring your skis even if there ís not much snow. We manage to get on skis more often than anyone thought given previous years' snow conditions.   Children should be dressed and ready to ski when they arrive at the park. Please have at least one parent from each family join us each week - your ski skills won't be an issue and your child(ren) will gain a better appreciation of skiing as a lifelong family activity. Children under 7 years old must have a parent with them on the snow.

Volunteers are needed for both coaching and support roles. As our club grows, additional volunteers are the key to the continued success and affordability of this program. Please check off a volunteer category when you register, or call us to see what ís needed. Coaches receive instructional materials, and enthusiasm is more important than advanced skiing skills for most of our coaching positions. We will also need shelter parents and coordinators for a few special events during the season.

The Willow River club will have advanced Silver Skier opportunities this year.  These skiers have progressed through the MYSL skill levels and are ready for more advanced training.  As part of the East Metro Silver Skiers club, we will meet Sundays at Willow River and one weekday evening at Battle Creek Regional Park in St. Paul.  Please refer to the MYSL page for additional Silver Skier information. Those who participate with Silver Skier groups are expected to maintain an affiliation with a local MYSL club.
