Midwest Junior Championships
Mar 13 2010 - 12:00am
Mar 14 2010 - 12:00am

3/10/10: The man made snow loop is holding through the rain. We plan on having all events as scheduled! I know it's hard to believe, but the snow depth is holding up! Come out and enjoy Winter-spring. We have many weeks of mud ahead of us, so don't put those skis away yet.

We still need a few VOLUNTEERS. Let Amy know if you can help!

A few notes:

**There will be a 5 and uder Sprint Final (no prelims) at about 11:20 on Saturday.

**Kids 5 and under register for FREE.

** Bib pickup will be extended into the morning (though it may move up to the stadium).

**MYSL will be providing Klister assistance on Sunday beginning at 8:15am. Klister kick is very good! So we want to help you have a great experience by helping you put it on AND take it off after the race.

**Day Light Savings is Saturday Mar 13th, so don't forget to adjust your clocks.

**SkiX-c Course will feature new “Ski-ter Totter”

**Fischer Jibskate skis for fastest girl and fastest boy on the SkiX-c course

To celebrate the end of the 2010 season, the Minnesota Youth Ski League and the Nordic Ski Foundation invite young skiers (15 and under) to compete in an event all their own: the new Midwest Junior Championships.  The event features a sprint competition, a Saturday afternoon end-of-the-year festival featuring ski soccer, a ski-athlon type course (short loop with jumps, slalom gates and more) and a longer race on Sunday.  The Championships will take place on the Hap & Judy Competition Loops that will be featured in the 2011 Junior Olympics - meaning guaranteed snow and the promise of spring weather.

We are pulling out all the stops here and presenting a fun a professional event (partly to practice for next year's Junior Olympics). Lots of age group brackets with a chance to do prelims and advancing sprint heats on Saturday. A longer classic race on Sunday - echelon mass start (a great chance to prepare junior racers for high school racing). And a Team Trophy for the club with the most points (don't forget to fill in your MYSL club when you register).

The graphic above is the design for the ski stickers for all participants. Cute!

Pre-register by March 11th for the best price. Some ski equipment will be available for use on-site.

We are also in need of lots of VOLUNTEERS for this event (both Saturday and Sunday). Again, we are using this event as a test run for next year's Junior Olympics, so if you want to be a part of the action next year, now's the time to get your pole tip in the snow! Email me if you can help.
